How to clean a gold chain at home so as not to harm the metal?

We clean the gold that has begun to darken

Inspect your gold chain carefully before cleaning it. There are many links in the chain, between which dirt gets stuck, making it visually darker. Regular rubbing will not help here.

We offer the most popular recipes: how to clean a gold chain using available tools.

Recipe 1:

Making a solution:

  • half a glass of warm water;
  • 1 teaspoon of ammonia;
  • 1 teaspoon hydrogen peroxide
  • ⅓ a teaspoon of any washing powder;

We put the chain here for half an hour. While we wait, do not forget to stir from time to time, so the dirt will go away faster. We take it out, rinse it in clean water and polish the jewelry with a dry cloth.

This recipe is only suitable for pure gold without stones. Other metals can be damaged by ammonia.

Recipe 2:

Take a small enamel pot, pour one or two glasses of water into it and put it on gas. In the process of heating, add one tablespoon of baking soda and bring to a boil. To improve the effect, you can add a couple of drops of dishwashing liquid (it breaks down fat well).

We put the chain in water and cook it for ten to fifteen minutes, stirring occasionally. After that we take it out, rinse it under running cold water and wipe it with a dry napkin.

Recipe 3:

  • pot;
  • glass of water;
  • two teaspoons of vinegar;
  • two teaspoons of baking soda.

We mix all this, boil, put the chain inside and cook for twenty minutes.

To avoid accidentally scratching the chain in the pot, place a piece of cloth on the bottom.
