It has a huge mass of advantages, but there is still one drawback - it has a persistent tendency to darken. After all, oxidation from water, the sun takes place in it. How to clean a silver chain at home using toothpaste

It removes blackening perfectly. Squeeze out a pea-sized paste, preferably with gentle bristles. Clean the chain carefully. Rinse it off and don't forget to wipe it with a natural cloth.



How to clean a silver chain at home using egg yolk

Dip a cotton ball into the yolk and process your precious thing with it. After completely dry, wash with water. Your chain will not only look great, but it will even stop darkening for a long time. Protects the yolk from oxidizing agents that cause unwanted discoloration.

How to clean a silver chain at home using baking soda, salt and foil

Cover the bottom of the pan with foil, and put the desired product on it. After boiling water, pour 3 tbsp. l. soda, 2 tbsp. l. salt per liter of water. After the contents stop making noise, pour this mixture over the decoration. Wait until it boils, then remove from heat. Let cool for about fifteen minutes. You will be delighted with the result!


Soda and aluminum will begin their work and after about a quarter of an hour, the darkening will disappear without a trace. The chain will shine better than the one you just purchased. Rinse, then dry.

Cleaning with hydrogen peroxide is dangerous!

Combine one to one ammonia and hydrogen peroxide, in equal proportions. Place a precious metal piece there. It is better to cover the container tightly to save you from a very unpleasant odor. The decoration should be in this hellish mixture for 20 minutes, after which it should be thoroughly rinsed and dried.


But this is not safe! Purifying silver with hydrogen peroxide is a risk that outweighs the benefit. After all, hydrogen peroxide can form stains on silver, which will be very problematic to remove.

Cleansing with ammonia

Pour ammonia into a container with a lid. Close tightly so as not to injure your delicate sense of smell. Place the product in the container and shake as vigorously as possible. After all this, as usual, we will rinse it and dry it dry.



How to dry clean your silver chain at home

Obviously, it can be cleaned with dry and wet methods.

Dry are the following methods:

    Place the chain on a cloth napkin, sprinkle it generously with baking soda, roll up the napkin and rub very vigorously. Then take out the decoration and wipe it off with a natural cloth, no need to rinse;

    Dentifrice. The chain is massaged with a powder-coated toothbrush. Then we rinse with water;

    Rough cloth. You will need a dense, coarse fabric, and the product is rubbed with it;

    Plain lipstick is one of the best versions of silver cleansing. Take any lipstick and cotton that you don't like. Rub the chain with lipstick as thoroughly as possible, and it will sparkle right before your eyes.


Silver Wet Cleansing

    First, wash the product in water with soap and dishwashing detergent added there. We soak, after a quarter of an hour we effectively clean it with a brush. This method does not always allow you to achieve the desired effect;


    Lemon with vodka. This method works for 12 hours. Pour water into a bowl, add soap, vodka, lemon juice, a dessert spoon of each component. We immerse our product in the resulting liquid. After the specified period, everything is rinsed and dried;


    Alcohol and pasta. Also a good cleansing method. We mix alcohol, water and toothpaste. Stir all the ingredients and dip the product in the solution for 30 minutes. After this, brush the jewelry with a soft toothbrush;


    Wipe the chain vigorously with a cloth dipped in a 9% vinegar solution. To achieve maximum results, hold for a couple of hours in the same mixture;


    Coca Cola. Oddly enough, this drink is considered an effective silver purifier. Products are placed in this healthy drink for several hours, and everything - unwanted darkening will be removed.


Basic rules for storing silver


    When arranging a general cleaning at home, the chain also needs to be postponed to avoid damage and pollution;


    When using medicines if necessary, one must bear in mind that during treatment, the composition of the substances excreted by a person changes. Hence, in this case, it is advisable to set aside the silver for a more convenient occasion;


    Regularly, you should wipe the jewelry with a soft cloth and keep it separate from others, preferably in a box with a fabric upholstery inside;


    In the case of silver lying idle for a long time, it is advisable to wipe it periodically;


    After wearing it, it is worth wiping it with a soft cloth made of natural fabric to remove the oxidation formed during the day;


    After cleaning a piece of precious metal, you do not need to put it on right there. Better to wait until the next day. Peeled jewelry should be placed on a soft cloth until completely dry.


We now know how to act to avoid oxidation of our favorite jewelry. Of all the above methods, cleansing with soda and salt with foil turned out to be the best. The ammonia removes obsolete dirt in the most inaccessible places where the pattern is intertwined, and at the junctions of the chain rings. Soda also has a good cleansing effect.
